The Faculty of Law and Political Science is organizing the 5th Human Rights Trivia Competition with this session dedicated to the memory of Mr. Ghazi Aad one of the prominent human right’s activists who passed away last month. Twenty schools are participating this year which encompass one hundred and fifty students who with the help of their coordinators will compete against each other testing their basic knowledge in the most important and relevant human rights issues. Two training sessions took place at NDU on the 19th of November and on the 3rd of December to inform the students and their coordinators about the rules and regulations of the Trivia as well as quick discussion on each of the topics chosen for this year’s competition. The topics chosen for this year’s competition are the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and International Human Rights Treaties, the International Humanitarian Law, the International Courts, Refugees Rights between International Norms and Reality and Human Rights in Lebanon’s Constitutional Law. In the training sessions, students have been introduced to the previous winners of the Trivia Competition. The two training sessions were full of lively debate where students have given their opinions on several issues that they found interesting. At the end of the session, a stimulation of the competition’s two rounds; written and oral was executed to help students have a better idea of how the competition will be held. A special thanks is due to the graduate assistant; Ms. Rebecca Zammar and the Committee of Human Rights Club; Ms. Sally Dankar, Ms. Sara Al Lahib and Mr. Najib Dagher who assisted Dr. Elie El Hindy in conducting the training sessions.
